UNM Welcomes New Diplomat in Residence

Ken Chavez photoPlease help us in welcoming the new U.S. Department of State Diplomat in Residence for the Rocky Mountains Southwest region, based at the University of New Mexico, Ken Chavez, who will be housed in Career Services and recruiting UNM students and alumni for career opportunities and internships.  Ken has served in Washington, DC, Guadalajara, Mexico, Beijing, China, and, most recently, in Managua, Nicaragua.  He hails from El Paso and is enthusiastic about being the Diplomat in Residence at UNM for the next two years.  He will cover New Mexico, Arizona, and El Paso.  The outgoing Diplomat in Residence, Anne Callaghan, will assist Ken with special projects and serve as his back up through the end of the year.  Also, this week there are two information sessions for students, the first is today at 4 p.m. in UAEC on the 2nd floor regarding summer 2017 internships; and on Friday at the same time and location, there will be an information session on Rangel Fellowships and Summer Enrichment Programs
