Mexican Consulate Establishes New Student Scholarships at UNM

The Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, has established is contributing $50,000 for a scholarship fund.

Air Force Rescue Helicopter Pays a Visit to UNM during Welcome Back Days

An HH-60 rescue helicopter with close ties to the University of New Mexico paid a special visit to UNM last month during Welcome Back Days. Air Force captain, Tamara Archuleta graduated summa cum laude from the UNM AFROTC in 1999, and became the detachment?s first female cadet to earn her pilot wings. Part of Archuleta?s career included returning to Albuquerque for flight training in the very same unit that landed the HH-60 on Johnson Field.

Dr. Eliseo ?Cheo? Torres, Vice President for Student Affairs will be recognized with the 2011 Ohtli award at a celebration of Mexico?s Independence on Friday, Sept. 16 in Santa Fe. The award is given yearly by the Government of Mexico to individuals who promote the wellbeing of Mexicans living in the U.S.

Workforce Recruitment Program Plans Visit to UNM

A federal representative from the Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) will be on the UNM campus in the Office of Career Services on Monday, Nov. 7 and Tuesday, Nov. 8 to interview qualified students and alumni for recruitment into their program.

NSSP Hosts 9/11 Ten Years After Symposium

The National Security Studies Program (NSSP) is hosting a free conference ?9/11 Ten Years After: Evolving Threats and U.S. Responses? on Thursday and Friday Sept. 22-23 in the UNM SUB Ballroom A. The symposium is open to all students, faculty, staff and the community.
