Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the University's decision to transition to a temporary online class format while we work through this process, Dr. Eliseo "Cheo" Torres, instructor for the Traditional Medicine without Borders: Curandersimo in the Southwest and Mexico class had canceled the in-person class.
Butrum Named ARC Interim Director

Dr. Eliseo “Cheo” Torres, Vice President for Student Affairs is pleased to announce the appointment of Amanda Butrum, as the Interim Director for the UNM Accessibility Resource Center. Butrum takes over the helm following the retirement of longtime director Dr. Joan Green at the end of April. Butrum has been with The University of New Mexico since 2005—and actually started just a few weeks after Green.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Evelyn Fleming-Cavit served as the administrative assistant for the UNM Army ROTC program—a role she still holds, just remotely now. And while her days are filled with making sure the program is running smoothly and effectively, her nights and weekends consist of making facemasks to help cover the Governor’s initiative to provide 7,000 masks for healthcare workers.
New Student Orientation to begin virtual ‘NSO… To-Go!’ Program

University leaders are planning to rollout the new format ‘NSO…To-Go!’ as early as June 1. This summer, it will replace the traditional in-person orientation with a combination of online modules, video conferences, remote academic advisement, and Q&A panels. Villar said it will include everything students need to be successful as they transition into their first semester at UNM.
Green Retires as Accessibility Resource Director

Each year during April, you can count on two big career fairs taking place on The University of New Mexico campus—the Educator’s Job Fair, and the Student Job and Internship Fair. These fairs are a great way for job seekers to meet with recruiters from local and national educational institutions and business corporations, as well as UNM departments and programs. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most UNM departments and programs, including Career Services are finding creative ways at keeping Lobos informed.
UNM Army ROTC Cadets Give Back

You get one giant, selfless, act of kindness. “Masses of people in countries and places all over the world are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and experiencing enormous change,” says UNM Army ROTC Senior Cadet Seoyoon Cha. “New Mexico is one of those places.”
