Women's Resource Center Hosts Women of Peace Art Exhibit

June 11, 2011

The art exhibit “Women of Peace” by Elaine Cimino, will be showcased at the UNM Women’s Resource Center (WRC), Mesa Vista Hall, Rm 1160, throughout the month of March in honor of Women’s History Month and the UNM Women’s Resource Center 39th anniversary.  According to artist, Elaine Cimino, “The series of portraits depict both the strength and vulnerabilities of the women portrayed. It was intended to be a study of women’s history by bringing the journey of their lives into the present and begin to discuss how they became the recipients of the Nobel Prize.”

The “Women of Peace” exhibit will be on display and open to the public Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Signed 8x10 print sets of the exhibit are on sale for $100. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the UNM Women’s Resource Center’s Sabrina Single Mother’s Scholarship Fund.  For more information, contact Britney King at the Women’s Resource Center at  277-3716 or women@unm.edu.
