As part of its Staff Appreciation Month activities, the UNM Staff Council recently honored Robert Christner with the 2011 Jim Davis Staff Council Award for Meritorious Service. A Grade 14 Representative, Christner is the manager of Computing Services for the Accessibility Resource Center.

Christner serves on the Staff Council Executive Committee, the Communications Committee, the Environs Committee, the Student Success Committee, the Steering Committee and the IT Cabinet.

The Jim Davis award was established in 1999 to recognize the significant contributions of an individual to the Staff Council. The award is named in memory of Staff Councilor, Jim Davis, supervisor of the UNM Recycling Department.

The late Jim Davis was the first recipient of this award. Davis was a member of the Staff Council for more than five years and served on numerous council committees. He presided over council meetings as speaker for four years.
