AASS to Hold Plight of the Black Athlete Panel
January 12, 2012 - Dorene DiNaro
On Friday, Feb. 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the SUB Ballroom, African American Students Services will present a panel made up of Dr. Sheila Renee Peters, Dr. Tamica Smith-Jones, Doug Williams, Arian Foster, Dr. Leonard Moore, Van Tate and Marcus Amos, to discuss the plight of the Black athlete. The Plight of The Black Athlete is a time for Black athletes to understand the importance of their future. With many Black athletes today jumping from college to the pros early on, numerous of our Black athletes are not graduating from college. The significance of the Plight of the Black Athlete is to show any athlete, regardless of their culture, the importance of education, money management and professionalism.
