Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Eliseo "Cheo" Torres, announced the appointment of Daniela Baca as the new director of the UNM Children's Campus for Early Care and Education (UNMCC).
Daniela has worked in and out of the classroom during her ten and a half years at UNMCC and most recently served as the UNMCC Senior Operations Manager. She received both her Executive Masters of Business Administration and Masters of Art in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood from the University of New Mexico.
Daniela says she is honored to serve as the director of a place that she has always been passionate about. “Over the years, the Children’s Campus has thrived and earned the distinction of being one of the top early childhood centers in the State of New Mexico,” she says.
She is excited about the growth potential for the Center and her future plans will build on what has already been established. “Building on this foundation, I am thrilled to announce our intention to transform the Children’s Campus into an Early Childhood Resource Center to serve student families of the University of New Mexico,” she says. “This transition will enable the Children’s Campus to better support the recruitment, retention, and graduation efforts of the University while simultaneously providing necessary resources to student families.
Consequently, she also plans to unveil the the extension of the existing three year Continuity of Care program an additional year, enabling children and teachers to remain together from birth through four years of age, increasing the overall long term positive outcomes for children and outlining the future direction of the UNM Children’s Campus.
Please help us in congratulating Daniela on her new role within the Division of Student Affairs.
