Career Services to Hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Partnership with TalentABQ

June 27, 2014 - Dorene DiNaro

The UNM Office of Career Services is teaming up with TalentABQ in conjunction with Innovate + Educate to offer WorkKeys testing to UNM students in the UNM Career Services computer lab.  The collaboration is part of the Mayor’s new city initiative on connecting employers with potential employees through skills based hiring.

The ribbon cutting ceremony and opening of UNM Career Service’s lab will be held on Friday, July 11 at 10 a.m. in the University Advisement and Enrichment Center (UAEC) Room 220.

“We are excited to be joining in his program and providing a testing site for our students,” says Jenna Crabb, Director, UNM Career Services.  “Albuquerque is the first city to be doing such a program.”

Skills based hiring includes skill scores in job postings, giving employers and job seekers an easy way to connect.  Employers discover candidates often overlooked in traditional hiring, and job seekers use skill scores to show employers they have what it takes to succeed.  WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system measuring "real-world" skills that employers believe are critical to job success.
