Wilterding Leaves as SHAC Executive Director

Wilterding photoDr. James Wilterding who has served as the Executive Director for UNM Student Health and Counseling beginning in February 2017 is leaving the University to pursue other career interests in Boston. Wilterding joined the SHAC medical staff in 2012 and has served as the associate medical director since September of 2014. Prior to that, he was a faculty member in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the UNM School of Medicine.

Dr. Kim Kloeppel will be serving as the executive director of SHAC on an interim basis.  Dr. Kloeppel has previous experience working in SHAC as the Associate Director for Finance and Administration for ten years.  She brings a wealth of experience to this position and will divide her time between her new position and as the Chief Operations Officer in Student Affairs.  

SHAC provides comprehensive, integrated medical and counseling services to the more than 27,000 UNM main campus and Health Sciences Center students. Pharmacy services and travel medicine consultations are also available to faculty and staff as well as students.

SHAC staff also serve in consultative and collaborative roles to address university-wide issues related to wellness, mental health, infection control and emergency preparedness.
