Kloeppel Retires after 25 Years of Service to UNM
June 12, 2020
Dr. Kim Kloeppel—or Dr. K. as she’s sometimes referred to—is retiring at the end of June after 25 years of service to the University of New Mexico.  And while she’s retiring from her current role as Associate Director for Finance and Administration in Student Affairs, she’s filled multiple roles along the way.

UNM Children’s Campus Preparing for Phased Reopening

The UNM Children’s Campus is preparing for a phased re-opening beginning on Monday, June 15.  Precautions are being taken not only to remain in compliance with NM Childcare Licensing but also in an effort to do everything possible to keep everyone safe and minimize the spread of the virus. ACOVID-19 protocols are being followed and all staff have been tested with results expected by Friday.

We know that campus climate matters and that we cannot achieve racial equality without first understanding racial realities.  And, we know that actions matter more than declarations and as scholars we need to focus on campus racial climate in an effort to ensure that all college students feel welcomed and supported. We know that members UNM community should feel hopeful to overcoming the racial barriers to create truly inclusive environments.

Johnson Center Not Opening for Several Weeks
June 4, 2020
In accordance with the State of New Mexico’s latest public health orders and social distancing guidelines, gyms and pools in New Mexico are allowed to open at 50% capacity.  UNM Johnson Center and Seidler natatorium, however, will NOT open for several more weeks due to completion of construction and the University’s response to COVID-19.

U.S. Space Force Gains a Lobo

United States Space Force, we have a Lobo.  A modern-day twist on the famous words uttered to Houston a long time ago as the U.S. Space Force welcomes 2nd Lt Kyle Williams, a recent UNM graduate into its ranks as a Space Operations Officer. Williams will be the first Lobo to report for duty at the newest branch of the Armed Forced established in December 2019.

UNM Children's Campus Celebrates Graduates
June 2, 2020
Last Saturday, the UNM Children's Campus hosted a Drive-By Graduation in three increments, for children at the campus who are transitioning to kindergarten.  The event was in lieu of the normal traditional graduation celebration and was shown live via Zoom for those families that couldn't make it.
