Assessment in the Division of Student Affairs

At The University of New Mexico, the Division of Student Affairs is committed to advancing student development and success, which includes engagement in co-curricular assessment practices.

We focus on enhancing operational effectiveness and contributing to co-curricular student learning through annual assessment projects and participation in comprehensive program reviews utilizing the Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) functional area and general standards.

The Division of Student Affairs aims to foster a culture of data-informed continuous improvement among all student affairs units by:

  • Coordinating divisional assessment activities and CAS program reviews
  • Providing guidance and support on unit-level student affairs assessment projects, with an emphasis on meeting the unique needs of units
  • Offering trainings, workshops, drop-in support, and online educational resources that promote effective strategies for planning, implementing, documenting, analyzing, and closing the loop on student affairs assessment
  • Collaborating with key campus partners to support institutional assessment efforts

UNM Student Affairs Assessment SharePoint Site

This is a new, digital site that houses online resources and training materials related to data, assessment, and planning needs for units. It is also home to the Howl About Data blog, which includes weekly posts about assessment, planning, and data related topics.

Because of the internal nature of this material to the division, access to this site will be limited to student affairs staff. If you or other staff in your unit would like to have access to this site, please email Tina Zuniga, Strategic Support Manager, at zunigat@unm.edu for more information.
