Annual Mezquite Golf Tournament Returns for 13th Year

The University of New Mexico is once again teaming up with El Mezquite Markets owner, Sergio Bermudez, to host the annual Mezquite Golf Tournament at Isleta Golf Club. The tournament—known for its food, fun atmosphere, and stellar prizes—has been raising money for UNM student scholarships for the past 13 years. To date, the tournament has raised upwards of $250,000.
McCarthy Named Director for Women's Resource Center

Áine McCarthy has been named director for The University of New Mexico Women’s Resource Center (WRC) following a competitive national search. She began working at the WRC as an advocate supporting student survivors on campus, and most recently served in the director role on an interim basis beginning in March 2022.
VPSA Announces Finalist for Career Services Director

After a competitive nationwide search, the Division of Student Affairs has announced finalists for the position of Career Services director. The finalists include Autumn Collins. The position was recently vacated by long-time director, Jenna Crabb, who was promoted to the new Executive Director for Student Resources position.
Golden Begins Associate Dean for Student Wellbeing Role July 1

The Associate Dean (AD) of Student Wellbeing position has been filled by Greg Golden. Golden’s previous role as Assistant Dean of Students will be disbanded and restructured into the two Associate Dean positions. The other position, Associate Dean for Student Rights and Responsibilities, is currently posted on UNM Jobs with a best consideration date of July 5.
UNM Mentoring Institute Teams up with Utah State University Uintah Basin on New Mentoring Handbook

Dr. Nora Domínguez, Director of the Mentoring Institute at the University of New Mexico, and Dr. David Law, Professor at Utah State University Uintah Basin, have released the Making Connections: A Handbook for Effective Formal Mentoring Programs in Academia in electronic form available on the at the Mentoring Institute’s website. The handbook caters to practitioners, university leaders, and researchers, with a primary focus on novice program coordinators.
