Career Expo Returns to the SUB with Largest Number of Employers to Date
January 26, 2023 - Dorene DiNaro
UNM Career Services is holding its annual Career Expo—traditionally their largest event of the year—and this year, the event is bringing in a record number of employers ready to hire Lobos for jobs and internships.
The Career Expo is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the UNM Student Union Ballrooms. This year marks the return of the in-person format which was paused during the pandemic. As of today, the fair is at the maximum capacity with 125 employers signed up.
“We haven’t held this event in person since 2020,” says Dr. Jenna Crabb, UNM Career Services director. “This is the largest number of employers we’ve had since 2008 when we had 122, and we currently are full and have a waiting list of employers who want to participate.” Students can preview which employers are going to there and RSVP for the event here.
Students are encouraged to come dressed to impress with resume in hand to visit with numerous employers ready to hire on the spot. For those wanting to finetune or update their resume, Career Services offers two “Resume Days” prior to the event on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 7 and 8. Students can drop in at Career Services office in UAEC Building 85, Room 220, with their resume between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to get professional staff help.
Career Services is also offering two workshops “Resume Writing for Expo Success” on Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 2 to 3 p.m. and “Tips for Career Expo Success” on Wednesday, Feb. 8 from 2 to 3 p.m. both in UAEC Building 85, Room 220.
“To have this many employers on our campus – all connecting to UNM and hiring our Lobos is amazing and very community and economic driven!” says Crabb. “It aligns perfectly with the UNM 2040 goals: Advance NM, Student Experience and Educational Innovation, Inclusive Excellence, and Sustainability.”
