Next Steps in the Engage to Innovate Strategic Planning Process

Over the past year, the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) has prioritized development of a strategic planning process in alignment with UNM 2040. DSA employees have participated in all staff gatherings, division retreats, surveys, and strategic area-focused meetings to provide input on their perceptions, experiences, and the direction they envision for the division’s future.

Yazzie Named Director for American Indian Student Services

After a competitive nationwide search, Andrew Yazzie (Diné) has been named director for American Indian Student Services (AISS). Yazzie takes over the helm after long-time director, Pam Agoyo (Cochiti, Kewa, Ohkay Owingeh), was promoted to executive director for Student Support in July 2023. With the start of a new fall semester, it is fitting that Yazzie – who earned both his Master of Public Administration and bachelor’s degree in Family Studies from The University of New Mexico and utilized AISS frequently during his time as an undergraduate student – will now be welcoming students as its new director. “I’m thrilled to begin this academic year in the director role and greet new and returning Lobos in this capacity,” he said.
