Taking their Tern to Lead: Student Affairs Leadership Interns Rise to the Challenge

In fall 2024, Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Eric Scott launched the Student Affairs Leadership Intern (SALI) program to engage top student leaders in outreach, development and programmatic support within the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. Now in its second year, the program has welcomed four outstanding student leaders who are helping shape the future of the UNM student experience.

Guiding Growth: LoboGROW®’s Relaunch Expands Student Development Across Campus

The LoboGROW® (Guided Reflection on Work) program returned this semester with renewed purpose and a permanent home in Career Services. After briefly losing its departmental base following the departure of a previous coordinator, campus leaders agreed the program was too valuable to discontinue. Career Services—already centered on career readiness and holistic student development—proved a natural fit, giving LoboGROW® renewed direction and broader campus engagement.

Hammerle Appointed Director of Campus Recreation

After a competitive national search, Zachary Hammerle has been appointed as the new director for Campus Recreation at The University of New Mexico. Hammerle, with more than 10 years of higher education experience, most recently served as assistant director of Campus Recreation at Western Oregon University, overseeing program development, facility operations, student‑focused initiatives, and teaching adventure‑based coursework.
